We’re a few months into our kitchen renovation and I can happily say that we’re well over 75% there! There have definitely been some bumps along the way, especially since shipping has been delayed for many items during this time. But again, we’re getting there! And the kitchen is looking better than I could have ever imagined!
Below are some quick snaps I took this past week showing the status of our kitchen!
We still need our replacement quartz countertop to come (there was a huge chip in it when it was delivered), then we’ll install the dishwasher and properly install the faucet, too. We also need to put the kick-boards on, install baseboards and crown molding on the cabinets. In other good news, Kevin has the floors nearly completed! We only have 1/4 of the foyer, laundry room, and powder room left! He’s finished the dining room, great room, kitchen, 3/4 of the foyer, and our sitting room! It’s looking so pretty! I can’t wait to share pictures of those rooms as well.
From the beginning, I knew that I wanted a light kitchen. White kitchens have always been a favorite of mine! After finding our floors {see our flooring post here} everything fell into place! We went with white shaker cabinets from Lily Ann Cabinets {see our selection process with them, here} and found some awesome appliances that include a double oven that looks like a single oven – we love it!
Below you’ll see the vision board I created showing how I hoped our kitchen would take shape up!

CABINETS
As you may know from my previous post {found here} we decided on Lily Ann Cabinets for our kitchen! They are Ready To Assemble (RTA) cabinets which is a nice cost-saving! Otherwise, if you’d prefer to have them assembled by Lily Ann Cabinets, you can pay a very reasonable fee for them to do so. Either way, they work with you and your budget, which is great! APPLIANCES
For our appliances, we knew we wanted the classic stainless steel finish. We physically looked at and read about nearly all the affordable appliances out on the market. So many of them are so junky in real life! I originally thought I wanted some appliances that other bloggers were raving about because their style was SO PRETTY, but after seeing them in person they really let us down. The fridges were terrible! All the plastic looked so cheap and the freezer drawers kept falling off the rollers. Not okay. After I found out about the double oven that looked like a single oven from Samsung, I was sold. I love the look of just a single oven but the functionality of a double oven was something I didn’t want to give up! We looked at the other Samsung products and they were equally as beautiful and high quality! We made our decision then and there.
Quick tip: If you still have your .edu email from college, you can get additional discounts from Samsung!

COUNTERTOPS
If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you know I LOVE marble. When we renovated our first home in 2014, I thought for sure that we’d put marble countertops in the kitchen. After researching, we decided marble in the kitchen wasn’t for us. Between the cost, etching, staining, and random marks, I knew I wouldn’t be happy with it in the long run. (We did, however, put natural Carrara marble in our {powder room} & {master bathroom} and {quartz in our kitchen} and loved it there!). So this time around, I knew I simply wanted quartz with a slight marble look to it. It seems like nearly every quartz brand has this style and they are all so beautiful!
We chose the quartz above and it’s so lovely in person! However, we are working through an issue where the polish on a couple of our slabs look dull, so I don’t feel like I can recommend it until the issue is resolved. As soon as the fabricator or manufacturer solves the issue, I’d be happy to share the brand/style! The color is truly stunning and it’s everything I was hoping for from a design perspective!
FLOORING
There is a {HUGE blog post} on how we ended up deciding on our flooring. It took months…really. But it was all worth it! Our inspiration was light French/European oak and I must say, the brand/color we chose didn’t disappoint! Here’s a quick snap of the flooring in our dining room! I can’t wait to get more professional photos done of our spaces!
We chose SUPERCore Xtreme in Ivory Tower – it’s beautiful! Make sure to wait to purchase until they have a coupon code on their site! It’s usually 10-15% off!
LIGHTING
We knew we wanted to simplify the lighting that was in our kitchen. There was track lighting, a flush mount light, and a semi-flush mount light. None of which were our style. We wanted to replace those with can lights and pendant lights. After searching the web for weeks, I finally found my favorite pendant lights for over the island. They are a bit of an investment, but again, you can purchase them when on sale (like I did) and it saved a very good amount! I mean…super cute, right?!
SINK & FAUCET
Our sink in our old home was cast iron with two basins and we really liked it! This time around we wanted a single-basin sink, but not a farmhouse/apron sink. The non-apron, single basic sink in harder to find than I thought! Eventually, we landed on this one and we really love it! Unlike an apron sink, it isn’t flat on the bottom which makes it hard to clean/spray it down with water – it’s actually super easy to clean! And it FITS all of our pots, pans, etc. We are so happy we went with a single basin sink!
For our faucet, we knew we wanted stainless steel to match our appliances. I also really liked the extremely large, more industrial looking faucets that add a bit of oomph to your kitchen. We landed on this faucet and it’s great! I highly recommend it.
COUNTER STOOLS
This selection was an easy one for me. After speaking with my mom about how people tend to sit and stay longer on a stool vs. a chair (weird, but true), I decided stools were the best style for our island. We made sure we were able to get at least four stools side by side. I found these stools (which come in SO many color options!) and they are so stylish and comfortable!
TILE
I’m definitely a sucker for a white subway tile. However, I’m debating on trying something a little bit different this time! I’m thinking of either marble tile or longer white subway tile.
Question for you: Which one would you pick? 1 – Classic white subway tile, 2- Longer white subway tile, or 3- Marble tile.
ACCESSORIES
And wrapping this post up is accessories! I haven’t completely decided on the decor for the kitchen, but here’s a start. After I purchase pieces and actually decorate, I’ll update this section with my finds!

The Oak floors look amazing. Definitely worth you taking your time choosing them. I also love a good fridge, haven’t seen one with the middle section before. Will have to have a look at that for my next fridge.
I am obsessed with your kitchen! That is the look that I love…. love the white crisp clean look and the stainless appliances. I love a darker floor…. like a black tile that looks like wood. Enjoy as it is a dream and it is looking so pretty. Love those lights too 🙂
Ah very inspiring and helpful love seeing a remodel and kitchen in particular, thanks for posting 🙂

Your kitchen is gorgeous and I love all the details! It’s so bright and will be incredible in photos!
Beautiful kitchen! I love the all white…it makes the space super bright and open!
Even though the kitchen looks amazing I can only imaginate my kids running and getting it all dirty and me having it to clean.
This is simply amazing. I love the cabinets and the floors SO much! Great design choices, Amanda!
Beautiful kitchen! I love the designs.
